For the first time in nearly eight years, the global YWAM (Youth With A Mission) family reunited in Manila for a powerful and transformative time of realignment, blessing, and commissioning. The central message for me was a return to the foundation: prayer, with Jesus as the leader. I was personally conviced to humble myself and repent for neglecting prayer, often prioritizing ministry tasks over seeking God’s guidance. This message resonated globally within YWAM, reminding us that every movement begins with prayer and intercession, rooted in the Lordship of Jesus. I’m now re-challenging myself and my team to deepen our prayer lives, both individually and corporately, to maintain a passion for knowing the Lord above all else.
This gathering also marked a new era for the mission movement, with a renewed passion for the apostolic calling, similar to the pioneering days of the 70s and 80s. The focus is on reaching more people, especially Generation Z and Generation Alpha. We are united in our refined covenant with God, with a shared vision of waves of young people coming to the Lord, and I said Yes to Jesus to be part of that move for a lifetime no matter what the cost is, I am willing to die for that cause.
Personally, knowing that my fellow YWAM family members share this heart for the younger generation strengthens my confidence in God’s calling on my life, I know, It is the same with the larger body of Christ because it is not about YWAM, it is all about Jesus, the Only Hope for Humanity. As a full-time missionary and disciple-maker in Madagascar and mainland Africa, it’s time to rise up and embrace this mission.
